An aggressive clinical course and a high recurrence rate are observed in patients of this age group. Therefore, there is a growing need to identify novel molecular alterations that could elucidate the mechanisms driving the disease progression. Previously, we identified mutations in the EPHB6 gene associated with early-onset OC recurrence.</p> <p>Aim. To evaluate the effect of EPHB6 knockdown on the functional characteristics of OC cells in vitro.</p> <p>Materials and methods. The OC cell line Cal-27 was used in this study. Gene knockdown was induced using small interfering RNAs.</p> <p>Results. EPHB6 knockdown resulted in a 90 % reduction in gene expression relative to the control, which was accompanied by alterations in cellular functional properties, including inhibition of migration and invasion, as well as reduced tumorigenic capacity in three-dimensional cultures.</p> <p>Conclusion. These findings shed light on the potential mechanisms by which EPHB6 contributes to early-onset OC progression.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Введение. Полученные результаты проливают свет на возможные механизмы участия EPHB6 в прогрессировании РПР у пациентов молодого возраста.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>oral cancer</kwd><kwd>young adults</kwd><kwd>tumor progression</kwd><kwd>recurrence</kwd><kwd>in vitro model</kwd><kwd>small interfering RNA</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>рак полости рта</kwd><kwd>молодой возраст</kwd><kwd>прогрессия опухоли</kwd><kwd>рецидив</kwd><kwd>модель in vitro</kwd><kwd>малые интерферирующие РНК</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><award-group><funding-source><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="ru">Министерство науки и высшего образования Российской Федерации</institution></institution-wrap><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="en">Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation</institution></institution-wrap></funding-source><award-id>075-01184-22-00</award-id></award-group><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The study was carried out within the framework of the state assignment of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation No. FGWM-2022-0015 (state registration number 122020200182-8) and using the equipment of the Core facility “Medical genomics” of the Tomsk National Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Исследование выполнено в рамках государственного задания Министерства науки и высшего образования Российской Федерации № FGWM-2022-0015 (регистрационный номер темы 122020200182-8) и с использованием оборудования Центра коллективного пользования «Медицинская геномика» онкологии ФГБНУ «Томский национальный исследовательский медицинский центр Российской академии наук».</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Lenoci D., Moresco E., Cavalieri S. et al.
