MD, DSc, Professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology, Ministry of Health of Russia.
In 1989, Dr. Imyanitov graduated from the Acad. I.P. Pavlov 1st Leningrad Medical Institute, in 1992 from a PhD program of the N.N. Petrov Oncology Research Institute.
In 1992, he successfully defended his PhD thesis, in 2001 – his DSc thesis.
Dr. Imyanitov’s main scientific contributions are associated with implementation of molecular diagnostics of oncological diseases in Russia. Under his supervision, the features of hereditary oncological syndromes were studied, and methods of identification of these patients were implemented in Russia.
In 2012, Dr. Imyanitov research group had discovered a new gene of hereditary breast cancer BLM.
Dr. Imyanitov also develops molecular methods allowing to increase clinical and economic effectiveness of antitumor drugs.
In 2004, Dr. Imyanitov has received the title of Professor.
Since 2005 he has been heading the Laboratory of Molecular Oncology, since 2007 – the Department of Tumor Growth Biology at the N.N. Petrov Oncology Research Institute.
Dr. Imyanitov heads the Department of Medical Genetics at the Saint-Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University and is a professor of the Department of Oncology at the I.I. Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University, Ministry of Health of Russia.
Dr. Imyanitov received the “Excellent Worker of Public Health” award (2016) and “For Merit to the Russian Healthcare” medal (2017). In 2018, he received the title of Meritorious Scientist of the Russian Federation (2018).
